We are delighted to be supporting the work of UK-based charity – Brain Tumour Research, especially as we recently lost a dear family member to this devastating disease. This is our way of trying to make a small difference.

Did you know that in the UK 16,000 people a year are diagnosed with brain tumours?

Brain tumour research is woefully underfunded: just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease, despite it killing more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer.  Brain Tumour Research’s vision is to find a cure for brain tumours and their mission is to build a network of experts in sustainable brain tumour research.

Hats play a big part in the charity’s fundraising initiatives – here’s how we’ll be helping to raise funds during 2018:

Wear our hat!

We have created a hat for the charity and will donate £4 from each sale for vital research. In vibrant Brain Tumour Research colours and with information on the special label, we hope to see this hat out and about worn by everyone who knows how important the work of the charity is. Of course it’s handmade in 100% New Zealand wool and we are sure you’ll look very cool, whilst feeling comfortably warm and happy in the knowledge that you’ve help to raise vital funds for an important cause!

We all know that research costs money. The Brain Tumour Research charity is committed to building a network of experts in sustainable research at dedicated Centres of Excellence whilst influencing the Government and larger cancer charities to invest more nationally. They are a leading voice calling for greater support and action for research into what scientists are calling the last battleground against cancer.

To sustain long-term peer-reviewed research at their UK Centres of Excellence, they are helping each of our Centres to raise £1 million a year. The funding they provide, along with partner organisations such as ourselves, is helping pays for a team of specialist researchers and support staff, headed by a professor or consultant clinician. It works out at £2,740 per day per Centre, and we are aiming to fund one day with your help.

Our Brain Tumour Research hat will hit the shops from the end of September as part of our Autumn/Winter 2018 collection. For a list of stockists and online stores, click here.
